Finnish Customs Sold Bitcoins For €46.5 Million. Money Will Be Sent To Help Ukraine

Finnish Customs sold 1,889 BTC confiscated during investigations of drug-related crimes.

According to a press release, the state received about 46.5 million euros from selling cryptocurrencies. Two digital asset service providers sold the assets. 

About 90 BTC are still at the disposal of customs, pending a further court decision. The agency also seized other cryptocurrencies but did not disclose details due to the preliminary investigation.

Earlier it was reported that the Finnish authorities would transfer the proceeds from the sale of confiscated bitcoins as aid to Ukraine.

Customs representatives told Decrypt that, according to their information, the proceeds from the sale of cryptocurrencies would be transferred to Ukraine – this has already been approved in the country’s parliament.
