The government of the partially recognized state of Kosovo approved the introduction of emergency measures in the field of energy supply, relating, in particular, to mining cryptocurrencies. TASS reports this regarding an official document.
From August 1, the authorities extended the ban on mining for 60 days and obliged all institutions in the country to switch to economic electricity consumption.
The decision was adopted with a sharp increase in energy import prices and a ban on exporting fossil materials from several EU countries.
In the future, by the government’s decision, restrictions may be extended for 30 to 180 days.
In December 2021, the Kosovo authorities declared a state of emergency to deal with the energy crisis.
At the beginning of January 2022, cryptocurrency mining was banned, and law enforcement agencies were involved in controlling electricity consumption.
