US To Pay $10 Million For Information On North Korean Hackers

It became known that the US authorities doubled the reward for information about hackers from North Korea who are members of the Lazarus Group and other gangs. Government officials have promised to pay up to $10 million to individuals who can help them detect and neutralize cybercriminals. Experts noted that this amount exceeds the one announced in March 2022 by 2 times.

The US State Department has said it is ready to pay a large reward to anyone who provides valuable information that can be used against North Korean hackers who hacked several large cryptocurrency projects in the last year alone.

Authorities said North Korean hacker groups had been a significant threat to the American community for years. Organizations like the Lazarus Group were behind the most considerable exploits. They stole hundreds of millions of US dollars (USD).

Chainalysis estimates North Korean cybercriminals stole almost $400 million of digital assets in 2021 alone. Elliptic employees said last month that the Lazarus cyber gang, based in the East Asian country, was responsible for hacking the Harmony network and stealing $100 million worth of Ethereum.

In addition, it was noted that the groups Andariel, APR38, Bluenoroff, Guardians of Peace, and Kimsuky caused severe damage to cryptocurrency users. All of them are accused of violating the Computer Fraud Act.
