More than 70% of the participants of the online encyclopedia opposed the further receipt of donations in cryptocurrency
Most members of the Wikipedia community oppose the platform receiving donations in cryptocurrency. According to the published results of a poll conducted among the participants of Wikimedia, more than 71% of those polled were in favor of stopping donations in cryptocurrency.

The reasoning for the ban argued that there are still questions around cryptocurrencies about the impact on the ecological environment. It has also been mentioned that the adoption of cryptocurrencies represents an implicit endorsement of the issues associated with cryptocurrencies.
